Ideas for holidays, weekends and trips in Illzach and its surroundings
The cosmopolitan city of Mulhouse is a stunning place where you can experience the coming-together of French, German and Swiss cultures. The city is famed for its museums. For car and motor vehicle enthusiasts, the Cité de l'Automobile (Automobile Museum) is a must-see, with over 400 models of cars, including French cars such as Renault and Citroën, as well as brands like Rolls-Royce and Ferrari. The Museum of Fine Arts is home to a large collection of 19th-century paintings, as well as some more contemporary works. Temporary exhibitions are also held here, so drop in and see what's on while you're there. The Mulhouse Zoo is worth a visit too; it contains rare species of animals and plants which the zoo is trying to protect.
As the borders with Germany and Switzerland are so near, why not make a trip across the border for the day? The nearest town in Switzerland is Basel, just 35km to the south-west of the hotel, and in Germany, Freiburg is 55km to the north-east. Both these cities are historical and cultural centres which make ideal day trips.
Of course, no trip to France would be complete without sampling some of the local cuisine. Why not take a stroll around the Marché du Canal Couvert (covered market)? Here, you will find Lorraine and Alsatian specialities and fresh local produce. Enjoy your stay here at the Campanile MULHOUSE NORD - Illzach Ile Napoléon!
